The 2016 4th of July Parade Theme is "Liberty and Justice for All" as selected by the Parade Committee. After many creative designs, the Committee chose a drawing by Claudia Montenegro, who used the American flag as her subject in a wonderful design that is already selling quickly around Hingham.
The Parade Committee has selected Mark Cullings as the Grand Marshal for the 2016 Hingham 4th of July Parade! Mark has lived in Hingham for several decades are really left his mark on many organizations - including the Farmer's Market, Hingham Education Foundation, Hingham Sports Partnership, and many more! 50 Flags Campaign - Register for the 50 Flags! For the price of $50, we will place 50 flags along your Hingham home, business or place of worship for one week then be by to collect them. You may also order flags to donate to someone else. We will leave one flag on your lawn as a reverent sign of your support for the United States, our servicemen & servicewomen stationed around the world, and the 4th of July Parade!
Many are surprised to learn that no tax dollars spent on the parade, which is funded 100% through private and corporate donations. As the parade has grown, so have the expenses.
The effort to orchestrate all of the parade needs is enormous and without the generous community contributions, business sponsorship, and several fundraising events, our 4th of July Parade would not be possible.
Golf Tournament Success!
The Parade Committee would like to extend our great appreciation to Jay McGrail, the entire SSCC staff, and Raffael's, which hosted a terrific golf tournament to support the Parade! The weather was perfect, and the golf, was... memorable! Thanks to all who participated to help raise needed dollars to pay for this year's parade. The funds and expenses are being tabulated, but it looks as though more than $13,000 were generated!!! A BIG thank you to our sponsors, the Live Auction Donors, and the Live Auction Buyers, where we raised the bulk of the amount!
