March 6, 2007 Meeting Minutes

Present:  Port, Bierwirth, Alvarado, Barclay, Burns, Ellison, Farrell, Friedman, Kiernan, Lauter, Manning, O'Meara, Reardon, Seelen
Chair Linda Port called the meeting to order at 7:37PM in the Town Hall Building.

The Committee approved the minutes of the February 27, 2007 meeting. 

The Committee voted favorably (7 to 1) on the Chapter 79 of the Acts of 2006 Warrant Articles.  Jack Manning voted no.

The following Warrant Articles were discussed and voted on favorably by the Committee:

Mike Barclay and Dennis Friedman updated the Committee on the progress of the Warrant Article being proposed by the School Building Committee. 

Bill Reardon presented an overview of the Town By-law - Harbor By-law Warrant Article.

Bill Reardon provided an update on the Community Preservation Warrant Articles for the March 8th meeting.

Lou Alvarado recused himself and left the room for the discussion on the Otis Street Parking Lot warrant article.

Laura Burns reported that the Selectmen had voted differently from the Advisory Committee on the article setting the interest rate in deferred taxes. The Advisory Committee voted for 4%, and the Selectmen, 6%. After reviewing the reasons the Assessors Department and the Tax Collector recommend the 4% rate, the committee let its previous vote stand.

The meeting was adjourned at 10:47PM.
