Motorcycle Accident Involving Medflight

The following are some pictures from a motorcycle accident. Due to the severity of the injuries, a Medflight Helicopter was called to transport the patient to a Boston Trauma Center. Medflight operates three helicopters in the state and they are used as part of the Trauma Entry Protocol to see that patients that meet a certain criteria get advanced trauma care with in one hour of the injury. This is the so called "Golden Hour" where intervention can have a significant impact on the outcome of the patient. It is one more useful tool in the Emergency Medical Services toolbox. The pictures are courtesy of Ed Burke of Fireground Photos.Net.

Ambulance brought the patient to the Central Fire Station for transport by Medflight to a Boston Trauma Unit. Hingham Firefighters are preparing the victim for transport by helicopter by transfering the patient to the helicopter stretcher.
