South Shore Conservatory’s (SSC) Wacky Wednesdays family concert series is delighted to welcome Vanessa Trien and the Jumping Monkeys back to the Jane Carr Amphitheater stage on July 18 at 10 am. This concert is the second of four family-friendly Wednesday morning concerts at One Conservatory Drive in Hingham this summer. Wacky Wednesdays is one of two series in the Conservatory’s diverse Summer Spotlight outdoor summer entertainment series. The family series is sponsored by The Harold and Avis Goldstein Trust, with WATD as the media partner. Summer Spotlight also includes Evenings Under the Stars Saturday evening concerts.

Vanessa Trien has been performing music for kids and families since 2005, many of those years in collaboration with her lively folk/roots/pop band, the Jumping Monkeys. She has three Parents' Choice award-winning CDs for kids and families and is currently working on her fourth album, due out this winter. Vanessa packs concert halls, preschool fundraisers and outdoor venues with dancing kids and families. She is known for her highly interactive shows, featuring plenty of group singing and movement. One of her most requested songs, "Tickle Monster" has families sneaking around on tiptoe and then on cue, all start tickling each other! In addition to performing, Vanessa teaches as an early childhood music specialist in preschool and pre-K classrooms in Brookline, and has also taught parent and child group Music Together classes for ten years. Originally from New York City, Vanessa moved to Boston in the nineties to attend Harvard's Graduate School for Education and has stayed ever since, first diving into the Cambridge folk music scene and festival production, and then eventually jumping with her whole heart into the wild and wonderful world of children's music!

New this year are food trucks at every Summer Spotlight performance. Interspersed throughout the 2018 season are Sadie Mae’s Cupcake Cafe, Rolling Roost Food Truck, and Mom on the Go Food Truck, offering a variety of foods such as indulgent cupcakes, designer grilled cheese, barbecue pulled pork, steak burritos, strawberry avocado salad, couscous salad with cherries, and avocado toast.

Other Wacky Wednesdays performances include Debbie and Friends on July 25, and SSC’s own ImagineARTS Band on August 1. Performances take place rain or shine. Tickets for family concerts are $15 for adults and $5 for children. Special packages are available for groups of 10 or more. There is no charge for children under three. Tickets may be purchased online at https://sscmusic.org/wacky/ or by calling 781-749-7565, ext. 22.
