According to the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA), an extreme heat warning is in effect through tomorrow (Tuesday) night. Residents can seek relief from the heat at the following Town facilities:
- Hingham Public Library (66 Leavitt Street): Monday & Tuesday 10 AM - 9 PM
- Center for Active Living (224 Central Street): Monday 7:30 AM - 5 PM, Tuesday 7:30 AM - 7 PM
Limited transportation to the Center for Active Living may be available for home-bound senior residents who wish to cool off during the Center’s regular business hours. Please call 781-741-1458 to arrange transportation.
HMLP asks residents to please conserve electricity use during the peak load hours of 4-8 PM today and tomorrow. In addition, the Weir River Water System asks customers to reduce or eliminate all unnecessary outdoor water including washing cars and lawn irrigation during the extreme heat.
