To our valued customers:
The Weir River Water System will be flushing fire hydrants in our distribution system to clear buildup of naturally occurring minerals in our water mains, improve water quality and ensure proper adequate fire flows. While the minerals are not harmful to health, they can affect water clarity and aesthetics.
Beginning Monday, October 13, crews will be flushing fire hydrants throughout Zone D which starts on Chief Justice Cushing Highway in Hingham, continues through Hull to Hull High School. Our crews will be working between the hours of 9:00 p.m. through 4:00 a.m., Sunday through Thursday. The flushing program is scheduled to take place throughout the next three to four weeks, and will be updated weekly.
Week of October 13 – Areas 9-13
Week of October 19 – Areas 1-4
Week of October 26 – Areas 5-8
Week of November 2 – Open for Completion
While crews are working on the flushing project, you may experience a temporary fluctuation in water pressure or have discolored water due to naturally occurring sediment in the line. If you should experience any discoloration, we recommend that you open all cold water faucets and run the water until it clears before drinking, washing clothes or using dishwashers. For your convenience, we have developed an Interactive Map where you can enter your address and determine your flushing zone.
We have also compiled a List of Addresses highlighting scheduled work areas.
