Early Voting
On June 22, 2022, a MA election reform law titled “The VOTES Act” was signed into law. Among other things, the VOTES Act makes several of the temporary changes from the 2020 pandemic permanent including Vote by Mail and In-Person Early Voting.
Vote By Mail
The Secretary of the Commonwealth has sent out 2022 Vote by Mail early voting post card applications for the September 6 Primary and November 8 State Election. If you choose to Vote by Mail, please be sure to fill in all the requested information and SIGN the card. Otherwise, a ballot cannot be sent to you. Please mail the card to the Town Clerk Office or drop it off in the drop box in front of Town Hall.
2022 Vote by Mail Applications
The deadline to apply for a mail-in State Primary ballot is August 29, 2022 at 5:00 PM.
The deadline to apply for a mail-in State Election ballot is November 1, 2022 at 5:00 PM.
If you are an unenrolled voter (not enrolled in a specific party), list which ballot you would like for the Primary: either Democratic or Republican. Without this choice indicated, we cannot send a Primary ballot. Your party enrollment will not be changed based on this choice of ballot.

In-Person Early Voting
Early voting will be held at Hingham Town Hall, 210 Central Street in the Central Meeting Room, located on the 2nd floor, as follows:
- Saturday, August 27, 2022 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM
- Monday, August 29, 2022 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM
- Tuesday, August 30, 2022 8:30 AM - 7:00 PM
- Wednesday, August 31, 2022 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM
- Thursday, September 1, 2022 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM
- Friday, September 2, 2022 8:30 AM - 1:00 PM
Election Dates
The State Primary will be held on Tuesday, September 6, 2022. Polls will be open from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
- Precincts 1-4 vote at Hingham High School, 17 Union Street
- Precincts 5-7 vote at Hingham Middle School, 1103 Main Street
- Precinct 7A vote at Willard Square, Linden Ponds, 201 Linden Ponds Way
