PUBLIC DISCLOSURE NOTICE
TO HINGHAM TAXPAYERS
The Hingham Board of Assessors have received preliminary certification of the Fiscal Year 2023 assessments. Commencing Monday, November 21, 2022 through Tuesday, November 29, 2022, the Hingham Board of Assessors will conduct public disclosure for the results of the recently completed town-wide revaluation for Fiscal Year 2023.
Every five years each city and town in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts must be certified by the Commissioner of the Department of Revenue as assessing all real and personal property at 100% of full and fair cash value under Massachusetts General Law Chapter 40, Section 56 to achieve full and fair cash value.
The proposed assessed values reflected the estimated market value of properties as of January 1, 2022 based on sales in calendar 2021. The new assessments may reflect changes to the neighborhood code, to land values, to cost data, etc., and to changes to individual properties and therefore there may be increases or decreases to the assessment. Overall assessments increased by an average of 19% as a result of the revaluation.
These values are pending final certification by the Department of Revenue and are subject to change. Property owners may view their property assessments by visiting the Board of Assessors office at Town Hall or at the Hingham Public Library.
