[ARCHIVED] Important Information Relating to Hingham’s April 24 Annual Town Meeting

Town Meeting 2023

The Town of Hingham will host its Annual Town Meeting on Monday, April 24, at 7 p.m. at Hingham High School. 

The full text of the Warrant Articles can be found on the Town's Town Meeting web page. A hard copy of the Warrant Book was also recently mailed to every Hingham household.

Logistical Information

Check-in for Town Meeting starts at 5:30 p.m. ahead of the 7 p.m. start time. The Town Clerk will operate two registration tables, one at the High School main entrance and another at the rear of the gym.

Parking is available at two High School lots – the front lot and the far lot down Union Street beyond the ball fields. Overflow parking is available:

  • First at South Shore Baptist Church at 578 Main Street -- after the Union Street far lot is full.
  • Second, at Wompatuck State Park -- after the South Shore Baptist Church lot is full.

Message signs will provide additional information on the day of Town Meeting. Shuttle buses will be running to and from the sites from 6 p.m. until 30 minutes after Town Meeting ends.

Masks are not required inside the High School. The Town will make disposable masks and hand sanitizer available to attendees who would like them at the meeting. Socially distanced seating will be available in the auditorium & cafeteria.

Accessibility is a priority. Handicapped parking is available in the High School front and back parking lots. A limited number of large print warrant books are available on request at registration desks. The Town is piloting live closed captioning in the gymnasium at this meeting. Accessible seating will be spread out across the gymnasium, auditorium, and cafeteria. Finally, accessible restrooms are available in the High School.

Town Meeting is open to all registered voters in town. 

If needed, a second night of Town Meeting will be held on the evening of Tuesday, April 25.  Registration, meeting start time, and all logistics will be the same for a second night of Town Meeting.
