Excessive Heat, varying water demand, and emergency or maintenance work, can have an adverse effect on water quality. The WRWS continuously monitors water quality by conducting process and state mandated water sampling. Periodically we will open fire hydrants and allow them to run for a period of time to turn over the water in an area. Currently, we have fire hydrants on Main St (Hull HS) and Spring St (Hull WWTP) in Hull open for this reason. We understand that this may appear to be a waste of water, but it is a necessary practice to ensure water quality. We please ask residents / customers to refrain from calling customer service unless there is an issue with the hydrant or the water is causing flooding, and to please not shut off these hydrants for any reason. We appreciate your understanding and if you have any further questions please contact Russell E. Tierney, Managing Director / Superintendent at tierneyr@hingham-ma.gov
