Outdoor Fire Ban Lifted Effective Immediately
Thanks to the recent rainfall, the outdoor fire ban has been lifted effective immediately. We sincerely appreciate your cooperation and understanding during the ban, which helped ensure the safety of Hingham during dry conditions.
As we return to normal outdoor activities, we kindly remind everyone to exercise caution with open flames. This is especially important for those deep-frying turkeys or using outdoor fire pits. Please follow all safety guidelines to prevent accidents.
Additionally, please remember:
- Dispose of heating ashes responsibly and cautiously. Always place ashes in a metal container and keep them far from any flammable materials.
- Only discard smoking materials into proper receptacles. This simple step can help prevent accidental fires.
- Outdoor burning of small brush is only permitted during the designated season, January 15 to May 1.
Let’s continue to work together to keep our community safe while enjoying the season responsibly.
Thank you,
Steve Murphy, Fire Chief
