[ARCHIVED] Construction Notice: Downer Avenue Paving - Foster School

Road Construction Ahead Sign

As part of the site work construction for Foster Elementary School, the school contractor will begin repaving a portion of Downer Avenue.

Work on this project within the roadway is scheduled to begin July 21st, and will conclude with placing the binder course of asphalt on the 24th-25th, weather permitting. The top course of asphalt will be placed in August. Work will require a lane closure, and traffic around the construction zone will be managed by police detail officers. Work will impact access to Planters Field Lane. During the interim condition, structures will be raised, and care should be taken while the roadway is under construction.

The scope of work for repaving begins +/- 20’ north of the northernmost driveway egress from Foster School, and will continue down to the culvert system carrying drainage beneath Downer Avenue to Broad Cove.

Work is authorized from 07:00 AM until 07:00 PM, consistent with Town noise by-law, but will typically conclude earlier. Please plan accordingly.

Should you have any questions and/or concerns regarding this work, please email PMA Consultants Project Managers at HinghamES@pmaconsultants.com.

Additional reconstruction of Downer Avenue, from ~72 Downer Avenue to Otis Street is part of the Town’s street reconstruction program. While the Town has received some tentative dates, we have requested a more aggressive schedule. When the dates are finalized, the Town will provide notice specific to that scope of work.
