Please help us keep Fire Hydrants shoveled out!

Fire hydrant with snow around it

A fire hydrant which is clear of snow and visible to our firefighters could save your home and even your life! A fire hydrant which is not visible can cause a crucial delay to their response as they try to locate the hydrant and shovel it out. You can provide a valuable public service for yourself, your family and your neighbors by assisting our firefighters during snow events.

Please consider the following:

  • Know the location of all fire hydrants in your neighborhood.
  • Make sure they are shoveled clear after each snowfall.
  • Clear away any snow and ice in the area surrounding these fire hydrants.
  • Clear the snow three feet all around the hydrant so firefighters have enough room to connect a hose.

We would also like to remind you to look out for your elderly or handicap neighbors as well, by taking a few extra minutes to shovel out their hydrants. A few minutes spent shoveling out your hydrant today may save precious minutes in an emergency situation!
