October 30, 2020 COVID Update
Yesterday, we were informed that Hingham has entered our third consecutive week in the state’s “red” COVID-19 category, which means that we are now considered a high risk community. The MA Department of Public Health reports 412 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Hingham as of October 29, with an average daily incidence rate per 100,000 of 12.3 and a percent positivity rate of 2.12% for the prior 14 days.
Effective Monday, November 2, Hingham must revert to step 1 of phase III of the Commonwealth’s reopening plan as outlined in COVID-19 order 51. The attached graphic highlights the different sectors that are affected by this change. At this time, there will be no changes to Hingham Public School operations as we are not seeing COVID-19 transmission within our public schools.
The Hingham Health Department continues to work with DPH, state epidemiologists, and municipal and school leaders to monitor the COVID-19 situation in Hingham. Please continue to practice social distancing, wear face coverings, avoid large gatherings, and frequently wash your hands to help protect yourself and your community.
