FY 2026 Motor Vehicle Tax Bills have been mailed
Motor Vehicle excise is assessed by the community where the vehicle is garaged on January 1 is the assessing date for all vehicles
Due Date: March 17, 2026
You may abate your Motor Vehicle Excise Tax Bill, for the following reasons:
- Vehicle Sold or Traded: Provide a copy of the Bill of Sale or Trade in Agreement.
- Vehicle Totaled: Provide a copy of the Letter of Loss/Settlement Letter from your insurance company.
- Vehicle Junked: Provide a receipt from junk yard.
- Vehicle Stolen: Provide a copy of the police report.
- Vehicle Moved from Massachusetts: Provide date of move and copies of new state's registration.
