Ballot Colors
New Primary Ballot Colors starting with the September 1 Primary
G.L. c. 53 § 33 requires that primary ballots for each party be of different colors.
Effective this year, the color of ballots shall be:
- Official Democratic Primary Ballot – Blue
- Official Democratic Early/Absentee Primary Ballot – Light Blue
- Official Republican Primary Ballot – Pink
- Official Republican Early/Absentee Primary Ballot – Salmon
- Official State Election Ballot – White
- Official Early/Absentee State Election Ballot – Yellow
This change reflects voters’ expectations and will help to reduce confusion when ballots are provided to voters.
