Planning Board Role

The Planning Board is charged with adopting and amending a Master Plan under MGL c. 41, s. 81D. The Board adopted the most recent Hingham Master Plan in August 2021.

The Board will need to draw on the experience and interests of others to periodically evaluate the status of actions related to the Master Plan goals, policies, and recommendations and consider updates based on changed circumstances.

Committee Responsibilities

The Planning Board established the Hingham Master Plan Implementation Committee (MPIC) to serve as its advisory body on implementation of the goals, policies, and recommendations in the Master Plan. 

The MPIC will have the following core responsibilities:

  • Education and Outreach
  • Monitor and Track Progress
  • Review Timeframes and Level of Complexity
  • Host Annual Master Plan Summits with all Responsible Parties
  • Prepare an Annual Report
